Nonspecific ST/T Changes
Report:
Sinus rhythm 58/min
VEB
Post-ectopic SA depression
Borderline left axis deviation -30o
Early transition with RSRâ pattern in V1
Diffuse nonspecific ST/T changes, consistent with ischæmia
Comment:
The T waves are flat and the ST segments up to 1 mm depressed, many in horizontal, âplaneâ depression. While consistent with coronary disease, this appearance could have a number of other causes73. In an asymptomatic patient who has already survived major surgery uneventfully, lying in bed on routine oxygen and given routine anticoagulation, no further action is indicated.
The mixed bag of nonspecific ST/T changes (some say ârepolarisationâ changes, although those who say it usually spell it ârepolarizationâ) is of more interest to insurance companies than Cardiologists. Most cases are less marked than this example. It is wise to ignore them, remembering that even completely normal ECG may be associated with severe triple vessel disease.
99. 52 year old man resuscitated from VF at home.
